For an established, owner-managed provider of PLM consulting and software with more than 300 employees and locations in Germany, other European countries, and the U.S., we are looking for a sales-driven professional with a technical background in shipbuilding. The company is independent of system integrators and software vendors, operates its own integration solution that is unique in the maritime market, and counts well-known reference customers from shipbuilding, aerospace, automotive, and mechanical engineering. Shipbuilding is regarded as a strategic growth area — in this role, you will take on commercial responsibility for it.

  • Further developing the international customer base and targeted expansion in Asia/Pacific and South America
  • Identifying new business opportunities at shipyards, suppliers, shipping companies, and classification societies
  • Building and maintaining long-term relationships at decision-maker level (C-level, engineering, and IT management)
  • Taking responsibility for proposals, price negotiations, and contract finalization under international conditions
  • Developing customized solutions in close coordination with product management
  • Ensuring a smooth transition from the proposal phase to the project phase
  • Representing the company at international industry conferences and trade shows
  • Regular reporting to senior management on the sales pipeline and goal achievement

  • A degree in shipbuilding, marine engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a comparable technical qualification with practical experience in the maritime sector
  • Several years of professional experience in shipbuilding — at a shipyard, a systems integrator, a software provider, or an engineering firm
  • Demonstrable sales or presales experience, ideally in PLM, PDM, or engineering software solutions
  • An existing network at shipyards, among suppliers, and within other maritime institutions
  • Sound knowledge of shipbuilding-specific IT environments (e.g. NAPA, AVEVA Marine, CADMATIC, ShipConstructor) and their integration into PLM/PDM and ERP systems
  • Proven negotiation skills with C-level decision-makers as well as engineering and IT representatives
  • Fluent written and spoken English and a strong willingness to travel for regular client visits at home and abroad
