We are looking for a
Business Analyst (m/f/d)
(unlimited, fulltime) Join our team at our location in Berlin – flexible working conditions available.
In this role You will focus on our accounting products, helping us understand and improve complex business processes and automate manual work. The role sits in the Product organisation, with a clear focus on business analysis rather than deep technical system design.
What you will do
- Participate in internal product discovery to understand business problems, payment and accounting flows, and improvement opportunities across products and operations.
- Gather and structure business requirements by facilitating workshops and discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Analyse and document end-to-end business processes, including current state and target state, using clear diagrams, narratives and use cases.
- Transform business needs into clear, actionable documentation for both business and technical teams, including business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Support product managers in breaking down larger initiatives into MVPs, epics, and well-formed backlog items that are ready for implementation.
- Conduct impact and feasibility analyses together with product managers, engineers and other experts, particularly for changes that affect payments, accounting, and ledgers.
- Help the cross-functional team understand the business logic behind requirements and how changes affect financial and operational accounting.
- Support quality assurance by validating that delivered functionality matches the intended business behaviour and acceptance criteria.
- Contribute to planning and estimation in sprint and product backlog sessions, bringing a clear view of complexity and dependencies from a business perspective.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related field
- 4+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in a software product or financial services environment
- Proven experience in analysing and documenting complex business processes, ideally in the fintech domain
- Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into structured requirements, high-quality user stories, and clear, testable acceptance criteria.
- Strong understanding of how software products are developed in Agile/Scrum environments, including familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle.
- Experience collaborating closely with product managers/owners, engineers and stakeholders to refine scope, clarify requirements and manage trade-offs.
- Ability to work with data to support your analysis, by using reports, dashboards etc
- Familiarity with Agile delivery tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps for backlog management and documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, you can identify root causes and define practical solutions and improvement
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, comfortable leading requirement discussions and workshops with stakeholders at different levels.
- Fluency in English. German language skills are a strong plus, as many stakeholders are German-speaking.
Nice to have
- Fluency in one of the following languages: German, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish
- Experience in payments, finance, accounting or BNPL, for example working with reconciliations, settlements, ledgers or booking logic.
- Experience defining or tracking business KPIs in a product context.
